Project Brief – Loft Conversion (Replacement Roof) | Size – 55m2 (loft) | Approximate Cost – £70k (2016) |
Services Provided – Design, Planning, Building Regulations
We design this loft conversion to provide two large bedrooms of equal size along with a family bathroom.
The existing roof of the dwelling was at a shallow pitched preventing its conversion. As a result of this we proposed for the roof to be removed and for a new to be installed at a steeper angle. This resulted in a large space giving the client the space they required.
During the design phase a few options were discussed and some limitations were introduced. We were asked incorporate only pitched roofs and ensure that the bedrooms within the loft were to be of equal size (as kids bedrooms I sure all parents can understand!).
A proposal was confirmed by the client and we proceeded to submit a planning application that was quickly approved by Cornwall Council.
Following this we produced building regulation documentation and sourced all relevant reports and calculations to allow the clients contractor to construct the proposal.
We were on hand to answer a few queries along the way and offer reassurance to the client and builder to ensure a smooth build.
The result is a well proportioned and functional space that meets the needs of the client.. And what a difference the natural slate makes!
